This policy explains what data Stitch (“the app”) collects, why, and how it’s used. Stitch is a time-lapse photography app: you capture frames of the same subject over time and the app stitches them into a video.

This app is developed and operated by Amit Bhandari.

Data we collect

Photos and videos

Every frame you capture, and every film Stitch renders, is stored locally on your device. We do not upload your photos or videos to any server we operate, and we do not have access to them unless you choose to back them up to your own Google Drive (see below).

Google Drive backup (optional)

If you choose to connect a Google account, Stitch requests the drive.file scope — the most restrictive Drive scope Google offers. This means Stitch can only see and manage the specific files it creates in your Drive; it cannot browse, read, or modify any other file in your Google Drive. Disconnecting your account in Stitch does not delete files already backed up — they remain in your Drive until you delete them yourself.

Account information

If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email address (shown in-app so you know which account is connected) and an access token managed by Google’s sign-in system. We do not receive or store your Google password.

Analytics and crash reports

Stitch uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (both provided by Google) to understand how the app is used and to diagnose crashes. This may include: app usage events (e.g. which screens are opened, general feature usage), device information (model, OS version), and crash diagnostics (stack traces, app state at the time of a crash). This data is associated with an anonymous installation identifier, not your name or email, and is used solely to improve app stability and usability.

Permissions

  • Camera — required to capture time-lapse frames. Stitch only takes still photos; it does not record audio or video, and does not request microphone access.
  • Notifications — used to remind you when it’s time to capture your next frame. Reminders are scheduled entirely on your device.
  • Storage (older Android versions only) — used to save finished films to your device’s gallery.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell your data.
  • We don’t show ads or share data with advertisers.
  • We don’t access any part of your Google Drive beyond files Stitch itself created.
  • We don’t collect the content of your photos or videos as analytics data.

Data retention and deletion

  • Local data (photos, projects, films) stays on your device until you delete a project in-app or uninstall Stitch.
  • Drive backups stay in your Google Drive until you delete them, either from within Stitch or directly in Google Drive.
  • To disconnect Google Drive access entirely, use “Disconnect” in Stitch’s Settings, or revoke Stitch’s access from your Google Account permissions page.

Children’s privacy

Stitch is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
